Shoah Seder at the JCC in Aventura 2015

The Shoah Seder at JCC was very beautiful.

Marleny and her madrichim took care of everything! They also added relevant videos and performed songs beautifully.
The souls of the departed must have rejoiced with the respect and devotion shown by the younger ones.
We had the privilege of having a survivor David Ysrael telling some of the stories that bring home the importance of what we are doing collectively.

Never Forget! Never Again!
Am Israel Hai!

This is not a one man's job!

Temple Emanuel- Kingston NY 2014.  Rabbi Yael Romer

"Our children will grow up not knowing a survivor," says Rabbi Yael Romer, of Temple Emanuel. "This is a way for them to both honor the victims and celebrate the faith and hope implicit in the creation of the State of Israel."

This non-traditional haggadah, literally meaning "telling", uses the elements of the seder and the rich tradition of "telling" to stimulate curiosity and elicit questions from children and elders.  There is ample opportunity to add particular stories of family members, survivors, defiance or resistance that may be closer to the family.

Shoah Seder at the JCC in Aventura 2014

Message from Dr. Larry Rotenberg, Reading PA.

Just a few weeks ago, i said Kaddish for the 72nd yahrzeit for my family, many of whom perished in Transnistria.  This extraordinary length of time made me think about the importance of memory.  And it made me realize that without memory, life is meaningless.  But with too much memory, life can become intolerable.  And so it is with the Shoah as a whole.  We must never forget; but we must also, as most of us have done, transcend the Holocaust.  The "Shoah Seder" creates a beautiful balance both of memory and of transcendance.  As such, it has become a major tool for sharing and healing.

Shoah Seder-Enero 30, 2013: Hebraica Venezuela

The Shoah Seder in Caracas was a very moving event.  Shoah Survivors and sons and granddaughters of survivors participated with stories and songs honoring the memory of the Holocaust.  The Haggadah clearly conveys the key messages Never Forget; Ani Ma'amin (I believe); and Am Israel Lives (Am Israel Chai).
